Citywide Young Food Champion 2025

This June and July, the Citywide Development Chefs will host a series of exciting heat competitions for Year 4 and 5 pupils across Citywide schools, as we search for Citywide’s Young Food Champion 2025.

Winners from each heat will advance to the grand final—a head-to-head cook-off taking place at Buile Hill on 8th July 2025.

During the event, our 2025 Apprentices will be preparing and serving canapés to guests. This will be a valuable opportunity for them to showcase their skills, share their experiences, and talk about their journey toward becoming qualified chefs with their own kitchens.

In addition to the cook-off and the crowning of our Young Food Champion, there will be short talks highlighting the work Citywide is doing through our Food for Champions education programme. This initiative is helping to teach Salford children about food, nutrition, and healthy eating. We’ll also share updates on our evolving school menus and how we’re integrating lessons from our Development Chefs into daily lunch offerings.
